Valle De Guadalupe Engagement: Lala and Frank

Frank and Lala, lovers of food, wine, travel, are very proudly Mexican with a love and respect for the country’s history, culture, and traditions. They are foregoing a traditional wedding for - brace yourself - 7 weddings in 7 continents over the next 7 years, with the first being in San Miguel de Allende, so what would be the best place to travel to that combines all that they love and serve as the perfect backdrop to their engagement session? Valle de Guadalupe in Baja, Mexico, just south of the San Diego/ Tijuana border. Valle, as I call it, is a special place: the people are warm, the food is to die for, and I personally feel an inner peace every time I arrive and spend time there.

Hosting 30 friends at Hotel Boutique Valle de Guadalupe for an engagement celebratory weekend, Lala and Frank knew this is where they wanted to be documented. On their hotel grounds and in between vines, they had me cracking up with their infectious laughs! These two are absolutely in love and I cannot wait to see all of their weddings unfold! - Evelyn

Balboa Park Engagement: Kristen and Justin

Kristen and Justin: amazingly warm, uber classy, all smiles, and romantics! Completely heartwarming, Justin proposed at a location to their home in San Diego so that they could visit this place over and over again in their future. As San Diego residents, Balboa Park made the perfect iconic backdrop for their engagement session that will soon be followed by their wedding at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, followed with a gorgeous reception at the San Diego Botanic Gardens!

Kristen and Justin, I cannot wait to document your day! I'm looking forward to every detail we talked about! xo, Evelyn

Little Italy San Diego Engagement: Sarah and Martin

Love is embracing things the person you love holds close to their heart. Sarah loves Easter: springtime, the pastel colors, and flowers have always brought her so much excitement and joy. When the time was right for Martin to propose to Sarah, he tied in her love for this holiday by taking her on an Easter egg hunt for a ring in their apartment. She, of course, said yes!

Martin, once again, embraced one of Sarah's loves at their engagement session: you see, Sarah loves James Coffee Co. in Little Italy. When we decided to have this coffee shop be part of the backdrop for their engagement session, I incorrectly assumed that they both love coffee. No, in fact, Martin doesn't drink coffee but was open to the idea because Sarah beams when he holds her hand and they are recapping their day, and she has her coffee.

Sarah and Martin, you two are so much fun and the absolute cutest! I love that you are both so thoughtful with each other and I cannot wait to photograph your wedding this fall! I will be multitasking on the dance floor -  jamming out and taking photos at the same time - as that band gets down! xoxo, Evelyn

San Francisco Pier 7 Engagement: Lien and Phil

When Lien and Phil initially crossed paths, their schedules simply wouldn't align for them to go on an actual date because things they are both equally passionate about - their careers and travel - kept getting in the way. When they finally sat down, face to face on a real date, sparks flew and they bonded over their sense for international adventure, family, and their love for food!

As their relationship developed, there were very specific moments that defined the love they have for each other. Lien and Phil were out running errands one day, when she spotted her favorite store. Like a good boyfriend Phil was, he agreed to go in with her. Lien, both excited to explore this location and slightly nervous to express to Phil the absolute thrill she got from this shopping experience, was immediately calmed and overwhelmed with happiness when Phil said, "Lets go down every isle!" As easy as it came for Phil to join in on something that made her so happy, it was equally as simple for Lien to know that she loved Phil. Phil on the other hand, knew he was all in when Lien met his Mom for the first time, and given their mutual value on family, is looking forward to family portraits on the day of their wedding.

Lien and Phil have spent many of days and nights in San Francisco, so the city served as the perfect backdrop for their engagement session!

Lien and Phil, I love that we can talk travel, food, and simply crack jokes together: you are my kind of people and I am beyond honored to be capturing your big day this spring! I can't wait! xo, Evelyn

Coronado Engagement: Megan and Colin

Megan remembers the first time she saw Colin: across the room at a dance class, and they were just little kids. Megan and Colin's families have known each other for years and the two began dating in high school. Both amazingly intelligent, Megan loves to cook, and Colin is a reader and loves to eat! Together they are emotionally in tune with each other, know exactly what to say to make the other laugh, and are downright, deep in love.

Colin would joke that he would 'fake propose' to Megan just like Jim would 'fake propose' to Pam on The Office, but Colin was in fact able to completely surprise Megan when he dropped to one knee in the Carlsbad Flower Fields to propose.

To commemorate their upcoming dream wedding at San Diego's iconic Hotel del Coronado, the hotel itself and adjacent beach made for the perfect engagement session backdrop. Highly valuing family - even pet family members! - their 11 month old French bulldog, Beau, also joined in on the fun!

Megan and Colin, you two make me dance with excitement: I adore the love you two share for each other and for your families, I love how you are both so driven, and I love how you are both so much FUN! I am beyond excited to be a part of your wedding this upcoming July! xo, Evelyn
