San Diego Courthouse Wedding Photographer | Alaina & Alejandro at the County Administration Building

When a fellow wedding photographer reached out to hire me as her San Diego courthouse wedding photographer, I honestly thought I was being scammed at first!

Alaina is a talented wedding photographer who regularly shoots at sought after venues, so when she messaged me about capturing her courthouse wedding at the San Diego County Administration Building, I was shocked and incredibly honored. Out of all the San Diego courthouse wedding photographers, she chose me. And yes, she was 100% for rea and not a scam ha!

From the moment I met Alaina and her now-husband Alejandro, it was clear this would be a joyful, love-filled day. They were sweet, fun, and had such an easy, genuine connection. Alaina wanted to highlight the playful, silly side of their relationship, and bring out the teddy bear energy in Alejandro — which made for such heartfelt and laughter-filled photos.

She had just one photo request: a wide shot in front of the iconic County Administration Building, where the ceremony for elopements and courthouse weddings in downtown San Diego are held. I told her: Girl, I gotchu.

Capturing San Diego courthouse weddings like Alaina and Alejandro’s reminds me why I love what I do. There's something so intimate and meaningful about these smaller wedding days, especially when they’re filled with so much love, laughter, and trust.

Alaina and Alejandro, thank you for trusting me with your story. Being chosen by another photographer to document their courthouse elopement in San Diego was a true honor. ¡Un gran abrazo para los dos!

Sunset Cliffs Proposal: Devin and Meagan

San Diego was the first place Devin and Meagan vacationed together, so returning here for their Sunset Cliffs proposal and engagement photos was incredibly meaningful. With the dramatic coastline and golden hour light, it was the perfect spot to pop the question.

Devin and I worked closely to plan every detail of his surprise proposal at Sunset Cliffs—from timing and location to positioning with the Pacific Ocean as the backdrop. As the waves crashed below and the sun began to set, Devin got down on one knee... and Meagan said YES!

It was such an honor to capture this emotional and unforgettable moment. Congratulations, Devin and Meagan!

San Diego Courthouse Wedding: Karen and Oli

In today’s world of online dating, it's not uncommon to meet someone when you least expect it. For Karen and Oli, fate intervened in a unique way when they met on Bumble just 8 days before Oli was about to move across the pond, back to the UK. Granted, he'd lived in the DC area for a few years at this point, as had Karen, but they'd never crossed paths or matched until now.

Their transoceanic love story eventually led them to a beautiful San Diego courthouse wedding with both of their families in attendance. Karen, a San Diego native, and Oli married here to allow both of Karen's grandmothers to be their marriage witnesses, and playing homage to her grandfathers, Karen's bouquet was adorned with lockets with their photos in them.

Karen and Oli, thank you for allowing me to capture your wedding! Felicidades!

Sunset Cliffs Engagement Session: Eve and Matt

Matt sought a partner with TSA pre check and the ability to ski. Eve? She wanted a feminist partner who would embrace her Queer community. Matt fit the bill, and Eve needed ski lessons and pushed back on that extra security clearance.

The good news: sparks flew during their first date picnic at Balboa Park, right next to the Rose Garden. A Hinge match, Matt kissed Eve within the hour of meeting each other for the first time and launched their love story.

Since being with Matt. doesn't have to take her shoes off at the airport ha! What each also found after that romantic first date was a true, deep love and a lot of fun which we had at their Sunset Cliffs engagement session.

And speaking of shoes, Eve brought her pair of heeled Dr. Martens 'just in case' we had time to photograph her in them and of course I made time! Anything that is special to someone should be included in photos.
